Artist In Chains

As human beings, labels and categories are an unavoidable part of life. Unfortunately, so are the expectations that accompany them. These expectations that others impose on things under a label or category are confining, to say the least. As artists, we strive to transcend such confinements, in order to keep ourselves free to explore and evolve.

Escaping labels on my artistry has seemed easier for me. However, many of us feel suffocated by the expectations that come with the label, Christian. In this essay, I seek to show that doesn’t have to be the case. In religion, there is restriction. But in God, there is liberty. There are parameters; but, liberty abounds, nonetheless.
