About the Kingdom Art Life Course
The Kingdom Art Life is a study about you—about the ‘you’ that shows up in the various spaces of your experience as a Christian building an art career in secular culture. This study offers twelve reflective conversations to affirm, nourish, and support you in addressing the beliefs that have hindered you from fully walking in wholeness, moving in freedom, and working from a harmonious relationship between your faith and art career.
These reflections will spark a renewal in the way you see your art life in God and God in your art life—helping you cultivate a Christ-centered, faith-maturing, Kingdom-building, purpose-fulfilling, fruit-producing, God-honoring, Holy Spirit led, intimacy deepening life in art that honors your creative heart as you boldly take space in your art career.
A Note from Marlita
I like to think of my work as relationship coaching. Through the Kingdom Artist Initiative, my focus is helping artists cultivate harmonious, unfragmented relationships between themselves and God, and between their faith and art career. In order to get there, though, we have to address what I’ve heard Matt Tommey call our ‘stinkin’ thinkin,’’ which for me speaks to those unfruitful and divisive narratives, perceptions, beliefs, and conversations that have created distance, suspicion, and friction in these relationships. This study is part of that quest.
As you listen to the teachings, engage in discussion, and spend time pondering and answering these questions, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit would show you who you are as His artist, and show you how you represent His kingdom as you take space in mainstream / secular culture through your career. I pray that you would be fully convinced that God is for you, your creativity, and your art career – even your kind of art career. And I pray that you would come to understand, once and for all, that regardless of the kind of art you make, where you make it, or who you make it with, you are an important part of, and contributor in, representing and building the kingdom of God.
