Show Highlights

I imagine the faith and art conversation like a mansion. In this mansion, there are rooms situated in intersecting wings and corridors. Each of these rooms represent a different facet of the faith and art conversation

Structural wing: Conversations around the composition of faith and art – @1:23
– THAT we should be combining faith and art in our Christian life
– THAT art made by Christians should be excellent in quality
– THAT we should be talking about all aspects of human life in our art

WHAT we should be doing within the relationship of faith and art

What is impacted and what results when we combine faith and art

How we bring faith and art together

KAI is in the HOW part of the conversation, looking at how we bring faith, art, and career together in harmony. How do they work, exist, and thrive together?@2:18

The relationship between faith, art, and career is understood in many different ways, with each understanding build around a different ethos made up of beliefs, convictions, assumptions, etc. @2:35

THE KAI ETHOS: ANY art life can be a vessel for worship and leave a Kingdom footprint in culture

Functional Wing: the application of faith and art, what we use it to do – @3:17
Experiential: Where we engage in art to experience and commune with God, and to understand and process our life in Him.

Civic: Where we use art for community building, culture care, and to process and address social issues

Ambassadorial: Where the artist embodies the charge to be in the world, but not of it; contributing the Kingdom way and perspective to cultural conversation through their Spirit-led approach to creating art, managing their career, and interacting with others.

KAI is in the ambassadorial part of the conversation.

Contextual Wing: speaking to the place and direction of faith and art – @4:12
to the church – art serves the congregation in worship, ministering the word, and fellowship and community-building

from the church – art is taken out into the community to share the Gospel and provide an opportunity for people to experience God outside the 4-walls of the church

marketplace – art exists in daily life as part of professional practice, outside the purposes of evangelism and worship

KAI is in the maketplace part of the conversation

The Kingdom Art Life Podcast is for artists who: @5:02
– follow Christ
– have careers in mainstream culture
– make art about all kinds of subject matter
– don’t create art for the purpose evangelism or leading people in worship

This podcast examines how such an artist, with such a career could serve God. It dispels the question: can such an artist / art career serve God. We say YES! because we have a life in art, not just a message in art. We are here to help artists experience the freedom, purpose, and reciprocity found in bringing faith, art, and career together in harmony.

Introduce yourself and the kind of art you do. What kind of relationship do you have between your faith, art, and career right now? What kind of relationship do you want to have between them?
